Be Elegant And Save with Gas Ducted Heating

In today’s world, where people are really cost conscious and environmental conscious, gas ducted heating seems to be the best answer for home heating concerns.  It emits lesser greenhouse gases as compared to other forms of heating and is thus kinder to the environment.  It is also easier for one’s pocket.  It is also noted that gas ducted heating produces only one third of emissions compared to those produced by electricity generated by coal.

Sometimes, when it gets too cold on the outside, reverse cycle systems do not show the amount of efficiency that can be seen in gas ducted heating systems. Gas ducted heating system gives instant warmth and heats up the whole house equally through vents in the floor or ceiling. You also have the options of remotes and thus can increase or decrease the temperatures at the touch of a fingertip as and when required.

When you go in for gas ducted heating systems, you should check for the star rating.  The higher the rating, the more efficient would your heater becomes. The rating would give you the percentage of gas which is used in the heating and is converted into heat.

What are the Components of a Gas Ducted Heating System?

  • Thermostat
  • Heater
  • Insulated ducts which bring in air from as well as to the heater.
  • Vents which are also called as registers or grilles. These vents spread the air around the house and return the air to the heaters.  These could be placed in the ceiling or floor.

The gas ducted heating systems work on the following concept – cold air is passed over a heat exchanger and this is warmed up with the help of gas combustion. This is then put through the ducts in the house and through the vents in the floor or ceiling.  The main living area would have a thermostat which would sense the temperature inside and send signals to the heater, which in turn would be turned on or off depending on the temperature required.  Whatever discharge is produced due to the combustion, it is safely thrown out of the home through a flue.  Liquefied petroleum gas or natural gas is used to fuel the furnace.

If your home is on a concrete slab, the unit is generally set up on the roof. However, if there is space underneath, then the unit can also be fitted under the floor or outdoors. The ductwork is always done in such a way that it is hidden out of sight and thus the entire ensemble is very neat.

Gas ducted heating is probably the most efficient way to get your entire home heated uniformly. The major advantage is that you can save almost up to $200 to $250 in a year in operating costs as compared to the usage of gas space heaters. Hence it is environment friendly and economical.

Zoning for Gas Ducted Heating –

Zoning a gas ducted heating system brings in numerous benefits.  Mainly it brings in the capability to heat the entire home at once. It reduces running costs and these days it is also possible to have different temperatures in different zones and control it as per your requirement.

It is a very simple process actually. It includes several sensors and thermostats, which are used to read the temperatures inside the specific zones. These then close or open the dampers which are in the ducting as per the settings of the thermostat. This kind of zoning is especially helpful in homes which have or need inconsistent room temperatures.

However, not all gas ducted heating systems have controlled zoning systems. If you are interested in such a system, you will need to enquire accordingly. go here to know more about it.
